Clinics
Clinics are conducted at locations such as Indigenous communties, rural support towns, remote stations, mines and oilfields, national parks and island resorts.
Since the Flying Doctor was formed in 1928, the need for our services has grown by leaps and bounds. As day to day medical care is not easily available to residents of the Outback, we also provide a comprehensive primary healthcare service that includes regular health clinics for remote areas.
These clinics are the equivalent of visiting your local GP and are as much about health education and prevention as they are about addressing immediate health issues. Consultations at these clinics are just one of the many RFDS services we provide free of charge.
Frequency of clinic services depends on community size and some contractual arrangements. Different services are conducted at different locations depending on local health resources and some program directions.
Primary Health Care Clinics Services include General Practitioner (GP) and Specialist services, Primary Health Care Nurse Clinics, for example in the Kimberley, health promotion activities and other specific projects. Services are delivered at small towns, remote Aboriginal communities, mine sites, pastoral stations and road houses.
