Our Supporters
As a not for profit charitable organisation, the Royal Flying Doctor Service relies on the generosity of companies, the community, including schools and individuals to continue providing extensive emergency and primary healthcare services.
Although we receive some government funding, this does not cover capital purchases such as vital medical equipment and aircraft which cost more than $8 million each to buy and modify into a flying intensive care unit. It also does not cover special health initiatives like Fly Around Clinics and indigenous programs.
Therefore, each and every dollar donated to the RFDS, keeps us in the air and able to deliver lifesaving medical care to all those who are living, working and travelling in rural and remote Australia.
Community supporters
As a charitable organisation, the RFDS relies on community support to help us continue providing emergency and primary healthcare to rural and remote Australia.
There are many ways that individuals and groups assist us and we thank them for their investment of time and their generosity of spirit.
Corporate support
As a charity, the RFDS relies heavily on the generosity of companies to continue our vital medical work in remote and rural Australia.
A link with the Flying Doctor is a link to the people who inhabit, work or travel in over 80% of the vast Australian outback. And this link can help you reach a new (and captive) audience.
In supporting the RFDS, your company can also become part of a great Australian tradition which began with our first flight in 1928 and continues today to provide a ‘Mantle of Safety’ to those who need access to emergency and primary medical care.
You can demonstrate your corporate social responsibility by supporting the RFDS in the following ways:
- introduce a Workplace Giving program
- establish and support a staff volunteering program
- promote the RFDS to your clients with flyers in your mailings
- donate a percentage of your profits
- provide your goods or services free of charge
- fund a needed piece of medical or aircraft equipment
- contribute to an existing program that needs funding (Designated Gift)
- help us expand our current services by funding a new initiative
- buy us a new aircraft.
Government Support
The Service gratefully acknowledges the support from the Government and Department of Health and Ageing which provides ongoing operational funding for programs including the Rural Women’s GP Service.
