OXIANA
DIGGING DEEP FOR THE FLYING DOCTOR
The
Royal Flying Doctor Service is delighted to announce that
successful mining company Oxiana Limited, which owns the Prominent
Hill mine in the north of South Australia, has entered into a
major new partnership with the iconic Service. Oxiana’s financial
package will be used by the RFDS to finance the purchase of new
aircraft and vital medical equipment.
Oxiana
Chief Executive & Managing Director, Owen Hegarty commented,
“Health and safety is of the utmost importance to Oxiana and we
see our contribution as a direct means of supporting our own staff
at Prominent Hill and the broader community at large who will also
benefit.”
RFDS
Corporate Partnerships Manager, Simon Peucker said “The RFDS is
extremely grateful to Oxiana for its increased level of support
for the RFDS. Through its programs in Australia and Laos, where it
also has a substantial operation, Oxiana has made a very
demonstrable commitment to supporting important community
initiatives. In the case of the RFDS, Oxiana’s contribution will
help to ensure that our crews can continue to provide timely
emergency evacuations whilst expanding the range of preventative
health care services that we provide to rural and remote
communities.”
